But for the sake of completeness, I’d like to say that I completely understand Burton’s reasons for not including him. ConclusionBeetlejuice 2 is one of those sequels that people have been talking about for decades, including countless rumors, fake news, and even fan-made trailers, but I never expected it to ever happen. When the trailer came out, it was official, undeniable, and I was both excited and hesitant. Look, I’m part of the generation that saw the original movie when it came out and loved it, but 36 years later, I’m getting a sequel! Did it live up to expectations? Did the characters keep up? Well, the answer is very mixed. For three and a half decades, it made sense to lean heavily on nostalgia, and with Beetlejuice, I was surprised at how little of that happened. Yes, there are references here and there, yes, there are flashbacks, and yes, a certain song returns, but for the most part, what they’re doing here is making a movie for a new generation that probably hasn’t seen the original. , more than Beetlejuice fans, and I personally didn’t like it and thought it was a confusing choice. Then the casting: Keaton as Beetlejuice didn’t feel the same way, I don’t know if it was him or the script, but he wasn’t the compelling character we love and know from the 80s. Lydia? Ryder delivered and was fantastic, it was a great return. O’Hara was very Delia again, but we remember Delia as a deeply annoying character, right? So that much screen time compared to the original film was definitely not a good thing. Theroux was excellent, Ortega was brilliant, Dafoe was his usual crazy self and Bellucci was… well, she was there.
